This course offers a unique opportunity to learn hands on the skills in applied Permaculture on an organic farm and homestead. Here you will learn how to create resilient and sustainable home and community resource systems that combat the forces of environmental disasters from human toxicity and help us destroy the social-economic systems that are controlling the world through an evolution of Care for the Earth, for the People, and for Voluntaryism.
Participants will engage with systems on the farm and homestead including:
-Earth based home with established garden
-Mature fruit and nut orchard
-Pond with grove irrigation
-Zone 1, 2, 3, and 4 homestead systems
-Newly established mushroom garden
-Water catchment
-A working homestead
This course is an Applied Permaculture Design course because we are able to provide students with more than the conceptual and philosophical background. At our courses, students will be immersed in hands-on building and learning. Every student who enrolls will be sent a pre-requisite reading list. Students will be expected to have read the requirements and able to arrive with a foundation to build upon through action-based education.
Students of our course will learn resilient Permaculture skills such as:
-Planting your garden
-Companion planting
-How to plant and propagate fruit trees
-Building railroad tie stairs
-How to layout, on contour, burms and swales
-Design water catchment systems
-Inoculating mushroom logs
-Harvesting and preparing meals
-Designing and creating zones around a homestead
-Basic natural earth building skills
-Composting systems
-Animal manures?
-Cover cropping
-Forest management
-Reusing resources on the land
-And numerous other hard skills necessary for the One Great Work
Please do not be discouraged if you are a beginner. Although students will be expected to complete the pre-requisite reading, this is a course open to beginners, but one that is going to take students on a deep dive into applied Permaculture.
Promoting a Plant Based Organic Diet is an important aspect of the The One Great Work and empowers us all to be healthy, balanced, and in harmony with Creation. To further this effort, we offer the opportunity to take classes with Paul, a former professional chef, that will show you how to craft and cater a meal for your family that will allow you to integrate conscious dietary choices composed of delicious farm to table ingredients.
We require a per person donation for each class that varies depending on the menu and logistics involved in providing it.
All Menu Items are prepared 100% from Organic and Vegan Ingredients. Farm-to-Table meals will be standard when produce is available based on the season. The menu for the class can be personalized and crafted for a private group, or for dietary preferences or requirements.
Kids from pre-kindergarten to 8th grade, are welcome to come immerse themselves in learning hands on Permaculture skills on an organic farm and homestead. Here at our farm and orchard, kids will begin the day with a fun yoga adventure. Pre-kindergarteners through 8th graders will learn basics of Permaculture principles geared to each grouped grade level, while exploring nature, getting busy with arts and crafts, working a garden, and cultivating survival skills. Classes will weave in story time for younger age groups, include local Native American history and crafts, and bring in journaling and drawing design plans for the older age group. Blue Hill Farm promises to guide every Homeschool Permaculture class with a foundational focus on an evolution of Care for the Earth, for the People, and for Voluntaryism.

These classes are Permaculture Skills classes because we are able to provide students with a basic conceptual and philosophical background, while students will dive into hands-on building, crafting, and learning. Every student who enrolls will be able to leave with a foundation to build upon through action-based education.

-Building simple garden trellises
-How to catch water
-Inoculating mushroom logs
-Harvesting food

This course offers a unique opportunity for kids to learn hands on cooking skills from a retired chef and dad, involving a purely organic and plant based menu. Pre-K through 8th will learn plant-based cooking skills, geared to each grouped grade level. The kids will learn how to create vibrant living meals together, along with some fun activities to liven up the day. Farm-to-Table meals will be standard when produce is available based on the season. Blue Hill Farm promises to guide every Homeschool Organic Plant-Based Cooking class with a foundational focus on an evolution of Care for the Earth, for the People, and for Voluntaryism.

This course is an Organic and Plant-Based course because we are committed to provide students with more than a cooking class, but also provide a basis in the philosophy of Natural Law, to do no harm, and the principles and morality of a maintaining a mutually beneficial relationship with our food, its origins, and the earth. At our cooking classes, students will be immersed in hands-on cooking and learning.
Students of our course will learn homestead harvesting and plant-based cooking skills such as:
-Harvesting from your garden
-Companion planting
-Harvesting from mushroom logs
-Planning meals
-Food prep basics
-Knife skills
-Raw food meals
-Cooking and seasoning
-Kitchen clean-up
-Composting systems
